The Lodi Library is proud to offer a new service to our patrons. Any person with a library card can now “borrow” seeds from the library to grow their own vegetables and return harvested seeds to continue the program. Please contact the library at 607-582-6218 with any questions or with any donations you might have to help grow this program.

We currently have the following seeds available:

Vegtable	Variety	Source of Seeds	Description
Carrots	Royal Cantenay	CountrySide Seeds	For heavy soil. 5-7″ sweet, fine grained flesh. Good storage.
Cucumber	Diva	CountrySide Seeds	Tender, crisp, sweet, bitter free and seedless, especially flavorful harvested small. Foilage is not very attractive to beetles.
Green Beans	Strike	CountrySide Seeds	Early, high yielding. Picked young its exceptionally tender and extra smooth. Medium green and very straight.
Lettuce	Green Ice	CountrySide Seeds	A favorite leaf lettuce. Wonderful, crisp texture. Dark green
Radish	Champion	CountrySide Seeds	Crisp and firm. Silver dollar size.
Sunflower	Mammoth	CountrySide Seeds	Height 8-10′. This fast growing plant produces a huge bloom consisting of large seed head surrounded by bright yellow petals. The seeds can be dried and used for bird feeding
Zucchini	Zucchini Elite	CountrySide Seeds	The best. Vines are open, easy to pick and bears heavy

The Lodi Whittier Library is proud to offer new items for circulation for our patrons. We hope that the addition of these items will allow patrons to investigate fun new hobbies that will enrich their lives. The Lodi Library is constantly striving to add new materials and programming that will educate and entertain all of our patrons. We understand that in tough financial times, having free access to technology becomes even more important. We work hard to be on the cutting edge of library services and to anticipate materials that will be of most use to our patrons. Magellan Hand Held GPS for Geocaching.

Geocaching is an outdoor recreational activity, first played in May 2000,^[2] in which the participants use a GPS receiver or mobile device and other navigational techniques to hide and seek containers, called “geocaches” or “caches”, anywhere in the world.

A typical cache is a small waterproof container containing a logbook where the geocacher enters the date they found it and signs it with their established code name.

The Lodi Library Easter Party was a great success! We had 15 children, 5 teens and several parents participate in an afternoon filled with crafts, food and fun. I would like to thank the teens who helped make this such a special day.

Cindy Mix joins the Lodi Library

Cindy will be receiving valuable real life working experience and the library benefits by having a dedicated young person working to help keep the library running smoothly. Introduction to Sign Language Class

John Ratcliffe and Betsy Sayer taught an Introduction to Sign Language class held on four consecutive Thursday evenings at the library. Our Sign Language Class is part of our Arts and Artisan Series funded by the Delavan Foundation. With the generosity of the Delavan Foundation, all of our classes are offered free of charge.
