Introduction to Sign Language Class

John Ratcliffe and Betsy Sayer taught an Introduction to Sign Language class held on four consecutive Thursday evenings at the library. Our Sign Language Class is part of our Arts and Artisan Series funded by the Delavan Foundation. With the generosity of the Delavan Foundation, all of our classes are offered free of charge.

Finger Lakes Chili Championship on June 11, 2011 Benefits Library

The First Annual Finger Lakes Chili Championship was held at Standing Stone Vineyards, 9934 Route 414, Hector, on Saturday, June 11, from 11:00 am-3:00 pm.

Library director Mary-Catherine French, library trustee Paul Batman and library fund raising committee member Marti Macinski greeted visitors during a chili cook off contest held at Standing Stone Winery on June 11. Proceeds of the event were given to our library. Macinski, co-owner of Standing Stone Winery, plans to host another chili cook off to benefit the the library next year. Contestants of the cook off regularly participate in chili cook offs and vie for awards at local and national levels.

Pizza Time Story Hour

Our first “Pizza Time Story Hour” was held Saturday, June 4, from noon-1:00 pm at the library. Jodi Latini read “Piglet and Mama” by Margaret Wild and “Owl Babies” by Martin Waddell. The children then made owls with feathers and eyes. The “Pizza Time Story Hour,” focusing on early literacy skills for children 0-5 years of age, will be held every Saturday through August 31, 2011. Introduction to Dog Obedience Class

Keith VanderBurg has been teaching our six-week dog obedience class since May 6. This popular course has been offered as part of our 2010-11 Arts and Artisan Series sponsored by the Delavan Foundation (all of our classes are offered free of charge).
